Hi gang! We're back with another update!
Merry Christmas , Feliz Navidad and Joyeaux Noel! The club elections are done, the holidays are upon us and the year is winding down. Time again for us to take stock of what is most important to us and to give thanks. As it says in the groups doctrine, our people are our strongest asset. I am thankful for each and every one of you. You are my friends , and in a bigger sense, my family. I know this sounds campy, but lets think about it a bit. We look out for each other, we take care of our own and we take measures to insure each other's wellbeing. That is more than just a loose association, that is family. We celebrate our successes together and we mourn our losses together. I can't explain it, but there is a bond there. It has kept us together now going on for 27 years. I look forward to at least another 27 together.
Twenty seven years is a long time. Of those 27 years, I have been president for 13. I am happy to see that the elections tell me that you want me around for more. As long as you want me to, I will proudly serve as president of what I humbly feel is the greatest Anime group in history. In the past, we have been dealt harsh blows. We have suffered terrible economic hardship as well. Times are better now and getting better all the time. This is due not to the efforts of any one person, but to us as a whole. Together, we can make it work, we can build our future and we can shape our world however we see fit. America is indeed the land of opportunity. She has surely smiled on us. As the song says, `The future's so bright, I've gotta wear shades`.
Now as in times before, we have members who are defending our land and way of life on distant soils. We have members in every branch of service, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. They put their lives on the line daily so that we may sleep at night without fear. Now that we are at war, they are ever more precious to me as they should be to us all. Let us take a moment this holiday, to remember our sons and daughters who serve. Let us thank them for the sacrifices that they make, for the hardships they endure, for the job they so willingly do. Let us do our part to make America a better place to live. Let us be decent to each other and to others. Take it from me, sometimes it can be easier said than done.
As the new year unfolds before us, let us resolve to do these things. One man, one woman, can make a difference. Even if it is by improving ourselves, now as in the past, we will lead by example. There is much to do in the year to come as there is much to do to close this year out.
As the last words heard from Flight 97 said, `LET'S ROLL!`.
